This guide was inspired by the Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, started in 1991 by Rutgers University's Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL). 16 Days runs from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10th (World Human Rights Day) to emphasize the connection between women's rights and human rights. Additionally, "this 16-day period also highlights other significant dates including November 29, International Women Human Rights Defenders Day; December 1, World AIDS Day; and December 6, which marks the Anniversary of the Montreal Massacre" (CGWL).
