Class-Based Workshops

Makerspace offers introductory workshops on podcasting, 3D designing and printing, creating immersive stories and vlogging. The sessions are 2-3 hours long depending on the size of the class. To arrange a workshop or request information, contact Muyi Ogunleye at mogunleye@centennialcollege.ca.

3D Designing & Printing

In this session defines 3D designing and printing, illustrates the current uses of 3D printing and it introduces students to Tinkercad, a beginner friendly 3D designing software. It is an interactive, hands-on session where students will get to design a simple 3D keychain, which will be printed for free, and if the session is delivered at the Progress or Story Arts Centre Library; students will get to see the 3D printer in use; and some students will be able to have their keychain printed then and there.

Vlogging

In the workshop, students will learn about the vlogging process (planning, production and post-production), they will get tips on creating great videos, and will learn how to edit videos to include text, music and imagery with VEED.IO.

 Virtual Reality

The Creating Immersive Stories workshop walks students through the process of creating a storyboard using spherical panoramic photographs taken with our 360-degree cameras. Students will have the option to add text and audio to their storyboards and watch their storyboards using the Oculus Quest VR headsets.

Podcasting
In the workshop, students will learn about the podcasting process (planning, production and post-production), they will get tips on creating great podcasts, create sound effects, and they will learn how to edit podcasts to include text, music and imagery with Descript.
