Makerspace offers introductory workshops on podcasting, 3D designing and printing, creating immersive stories, vlogging and T-shirt designing. These workshops are available online and can be booked for a class. For class bookings, the sessions are 1.5 to 3 hours long depending on the size of the class. 3D Designing & Printing (updated)
In this session defines 3D designing and printing, illustrates the current uses of 3D printing and it introduces students to Tinkercad, a beginner friendly 3D designing software. It is an interactive, hands-on session where students will get to design a simple 3D keychain, which will be printed for free, and if the session is delivered at the Progress or Story Arts Centre Library; students will get to see the 3D printer in use; and some students will be able to have their keychain printed then and there.
Vlogging (updated)
In the workshop, students will learn about the vlogging process (planning, production and post-production), they will get tips on creating great videos and will learn how to edit videos to include text, music and imagery with VEED.IO.
Virtual Reality: Creating Immersive Stories & Virtual Tours and exploring the IT’S AN IDEA Project in VR.
The Creating Immersive Stories and the Virtual Tours workshops walks students through the process of creating a storyboard or a tour using spherical panoramic photographs taken with our 360-degree cameras. Students will have the option to add text and audio to their storyboards or tours. Tours created can viewed on the Oculus Quest VR headsets. The IT’S AN IDEA Project is a cinematic VR experience that immerses the viewer in four different real-life campus-based scenarios based on lived experiences of persons with disabilities.These simulations provide immersive experiences that will help deepen understanding of accessibility, authentic inclusion, equity, Universal Design, accessible education standards, and AODA requirements.
Podcasting (updated)
In the workshop, students will learn about the podcasting process (planning, production and post-production), they will get tips on creating great podcasts, create sound effects, and they will learn how to edit podcasts to include text, music and imagery with Descript.
