Finding News at Centennial Libraries

Access hundreds of local, national, and international newspapers through Centennial Libraries.

Using Newspaper Search

Step one: Navigate to advanced search page

To begin, navigate to the Newspaper Search page by clicking Advanced Search from the library home page, (advanced search button is located underneath the main search bar).

Step two: Select newspapers search

Once on the Advanced Search page, you will see Newspapers Search along the top of the screen (screenshot below).

Steph three: Choose your search parameters and filter results

From here, you can search across all newspapers available from Centennial Libraries, or search through one or all of our “Featured Newspapers” (The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail). Enter your desired keywords and search away!

When your results page displays, you'll likely need to narrow down your results. You can do this by adding additional keywords to make your search more specific, or by using the filters or "facets" on the left side of the screen.

Keep in mind, one of the biggest advantages of using newspapers is their currency (aka how current they are) so remember to filter the Date. Another important filter to consider is Journal Title, this will list the names of all the newspapers included in your results. The Subject filter can also help clarify your search. Try different filter combinations and see what works!
