Finding News at Centennial Libraries

Access hundreds of local, national, and international newspapers through Centennial Libraries.

Using Journal Search

If you want to know whether the library has access to a specific journal, newspaper, or magazine, use Journal Search. The Journal Search option is located on the library homepage in the Popular Resources section and will search for all types of periodicals, not just journals. When the journal search page opens, you can enter the name of the periodical you're looking for in the search box, or browse by category.

Keep in mind: Access dates

Sometimes a newspaper or magazine appears in multiple databases and each database may have different options for access. For example, CPI.Q might have issues from 1985 to present while PressReader only has content from the last six months.

Journal Search will show you all the databases where the periodical is indexed, aka all the databases it appears in. For example, this search for the New York Times (at right) shows that we have access to NYT from multiple databases, one database goes back as far as 1980, one to 1985, and another to 1996. If you are looking fo historical newspapers, this is important to consider. Click the database name to enter (e.g. ProQuest Central).
