Gender-Based Violence

In this session, we will explore what is meant by the term toxic masculinity and the common myths and impacts surrounding it. We will discuss potential ways forward which involves recognizing the role socialization plays in teaching us what it means to be a man and critically question this socialization in our culture.

Join Centennial Libraries and Learning Centres and the Innovation, Inclusion, Reconciliation and Healing portfolio in honouring survivors of gender-based violence through literature, poetry and spoken word. This session will make use of bibliotherapy, a non-clinical framework which utilizes text as a catalyst for transformative dialogue, to explore the many ways that survivors heal, resist and engage in activism against gender-based violence. This is a great opportunity to expand your understanding of healing and activism as they relate to gender-based violence while learning about books and resources that are available online and at Centennial Libraries and Learning Centres.
