What is ChatGPT and how can it help you with your schoolwork? In this short video, a student shares his perspective.

The following are some suggestions to consider with respect to Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, and your work at Centennial.

The following is a definition of ChatGPT, provided by ChatGPT on 1/3/2023: “ChatGPT is a variant of the GPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) language model, which was developed by OpenAI. GPT models are trained to generate human-like text by predicting the next word in a sequence based on the words that come before it. ChatGPT is specifically designed to be used in chatbots and conversational systems, and it is trained on a large dataset of human conversations to learn how to generate appropriate responses in a variety of contexts” (Montclair State University).

Additional information about ChatGPT:

• It can create content in seconds;
• In it's current iteration ChatGPT is not connected directly to the Internet and has limited knowledge of the world and events after 2021;
• It depends on large amounts of data (which means it may not perform well when limited amounts of data are available) (TeachOnline.ca).
