Creating an accessible learning environment not only benefits students with disabilities, but positively impacts all learners. Think of the transcription boom at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. While transcription was provided to meet accommodation requests as we began teaching and learning from home, many students realized having a transcript of videos shown in class was beneficial to their understanding. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) recognizes that everyone learns differently and when we design for students at the margins, everyone benefits.
