How to access online audiobooks and other audio content in our collection, and how to use Text to Speech and Adobe Reader to have the resources read aloud.

Use Adobe Reader to Read PDFs Aloud

Adobe Reader will read aloud PDF files. Adobe Reader is free software that can be downloaded to your computer.

Many of our online articles and ebooks are available in PDF format.

Search for content in Page1+ by searching your topic, and using the "Available online" and Resource Type filters.

Click on Available Online to view the resource.

Select an option under "View Online".

Once you have the ebook open, look for options to download a PDF file.

Not all of our databases will have this option. For those that do, some may allow you to download immediately, and others may require that you set up a free account first.

Many databases will only allow you to download a limited number of PDF pages.

Download the PDF files(s) you would like to read.
