Describing Quantitative Data

Quantitative data consist of data that are recorded on a numerical scale. There are three common graphical methods to display data: dot plotsstem-and-leaf plots, and histograms (see next pages for stem-and-leaf and histograms).

Dot Plots

Dot plots are one of the simplest statistical plots. They are useful for highlighting clusters and gaps, as well as outliers.
